About DJ Mozzie

Knock Knock.
Who’s There?
Amos.
Amos Who?
Amosquito.

Lame, yes. I know. However, this is an old joke that I have been hearing for many years, and people still think it’s hilarious. Out of that joke developed my nickname, Mozzie, which I’ve now adopted as being my musician name, or DJ name, or whatever you’d like to call it.

I first started to compose music in early 2006, and fell in love with it. After having downloaded hundreds of samples and loops, I created a whole batch of “songs”. Looking back and listening to those songs now, I realise just how bad they were, so I’d like to say thanks to everybody who encouraged me back then, haha. Nevertheless, I compiled a 6-track EP called “Second Essentials”. This was a CD that I just gave to friends and such. Eventually, I extended that EP, created a new song or two, altered the pre-existing tracks and created the digital release, the “Mozzie EP”, which was available for free download for quite some time on my old website.

After these songs of mine had been released, I thought I’d try my luck at remixing songs of other artists. However, I was really only interested in remixing songs by Moby (my then favourite artist), despite having only ever finished remixing two of his songs, (“Hymn” and “Time’s Up”, which are, from memory, still in my MySpace music player). Of late, I also remixed Lady GaGa’s single, “The Fame”, primarily for me to have a different version to play when I DJ parties, but I’m actually quite happy with how it turned out, so you can download it on this website.

During all this time, I had been practising my technique and trying my hand at DJing. Although I only had a gig once every month or two, I found it really interesting and fun. Nowadays, I usually DJ once a week or a fortnight, and I find it very enjoyable.

During my time DJing, I have done:
- Wedding Receptions.
- Engagement Parties.
- Birthday Parties.
- School Formals.
- College Graduations.
- Charity Events (for Ronald McDonald House Charities, including McHappy Day).
- Other Various Functions.

In late 2008, I created Mozzie’s Mix-Tape – Volume One, which was just a mix CD of all my current favourite tracks, which I just gave out to some friends. People seemed to love it, and I soon had people asking me when the next one was coming out. A couple of months later, I released Volume Two, but soon realised that burning CDs for everyone was getting annoying and repetetive, so I invested in this website so that people could come and download my mixes instead. As of writing this, I have released five major mix-tapes, as well as a Classics Collection and a whole bunch of mini-mixes. Mozzie’s Mix-Tape – Volume Six will be released in the coming months, so keep your eye out for that!

If you live in Newcastle, Australia, and would like to hire me to DJ, please either message me on my MySpace page (www.myspace.com/djmozzie) or email me at amos@djmozzie.com.
